Coming back to Allah – Part II

Those who have believed and whose hearts are assured by the remembrance of Allah . Unquestionably, by the remembrance of Allah hearts are assured.”  13:28

After dabbling in a multitude of modern stuff like self help books and coaching series, I found there is something missing. Something which makes me feel shallow, even after all the confidence boosting, positive thinking, mind-tuning, vision creating exercises. Why can’t I feel complete. Why can’t I feel enough. After all, am I not everything. If I set my mind to it(visualize, affirm etc), I can get it, right. Then what is missing.

Does my spouse have anything to say. My friends, relatives? Do they have a right to say? If someone does not understand and support my goals/aspirations, I don’t care right. After all, what I say, think, believe and behave matters doesn’t it. Why do I feel bad then.

Oh yeah, here is the key.

Those who have believed and whose hearts are assured by the remembrance of Allah . Unquestionably, by the remembrance of Allah hearts are assured.” 13:28

(248 hadith found in ‘Good Manners and Form (Al-Adab)‘ of Sahih Bukhari)

Narrated Abu Aiyub Al-Ansari: A man said, “O Allah’s Apostle! Inform me of a deed which will make me enter Paradise.” The people said, “What is the matter with him? What is the matter with him?” Allah’s Apostle said, “He has something to ask (what he needs greatly).” The Prophet said (to him), (In order to enter Paradise) you should worship Allah and join none in worship with Him: You should offer prayers perfectly, give obligatory charity (Zakat), and keep good relations with your Kith and kin.” He then said, “Leave it!” (The sub-narrator said, “It seems that the Prophet was riding his she camel.”

Narrated Jubair bin Mut’im: That he heard the Prophet saying, “The person who severs the bond of kinship will not enter Paradise.”

When I reflect on these, yes, remembrance of Allah(SWT) fills me with the sense of contentment and happiness that no other self-help book can do. Remembrance of Allah(SWT) fills the void. The affection and togetherness of my people gives the gold coating on it. Allah(SWT) in his infinite wisdom gave this knowledge to us plain and straight forward. But humankind seems to have sworn to make things complex for itself, myself included.

It only gets better:

Narrated Abu Huraira: I heard Allah’s Apostle saying, “Who ever is pleased that he be granted more wealth and that his lease of life be pro longed, then he should keep good relations with his Kith and kin.”

Narrated Anas bin Malik: Allah ‘s Apostle said, “Whoever loves that he be granted more wealth and that his lease of life be prolonged then he should keep good relations with his Kith and kin.”
